Search TDOC Release Records

To find someone released from the Tennessee Department of Correction system after a White County case, begin with the statewide felony-offender record rather than the county jail roster. The state system covers people now or formerly in TDOC custody or supervision. A result may show prison custody, parole, probation, an inactive status, sentence facts, or release information. Each term has a narrow meaning. The search does not replace White County Jail records for a local pretrial or misdemeanor stay, and leaving state custody does not always mean entering the community.

TDOC Releases Serving White County

The Tennessee Department of Correction system is a statewide corrections and community-supervision system. Research found no TDOC prison inside White County. Its inclusion here reflects the route taken by a person sentenced from White County to state custody, not a claim that a state prison sits in Sparta. The county jail can hold a person before TDOC placement, and the two agencies may report different stages of the same case.

A physical release from prison may lead to parole, another form of supervised status, a detainer transfer, or the end of state custody. Parole means release from incarceration before sentence expiration under Board conditions and TDOC supervision. Probation is a court-ordered supervised alternative to confinement or a suspended part of a sentence. A detainer is a request or legal basis for another authority to take custody. That last route is an agency transfer, not a community release.

Confirm White County TDOC Release

The official public route is the Felony Offender Information Lookup, usually called FOIL. It covers felony offenders who are currently or formerly in TDOC custody or supervision. It does not cover every White County pretrial detainee, misdemeanant, or short county sentence. Start only when the case record, jail movement record, or another reliable fact points toward the state system.

  1. Search by name, TDOC ID, or State ID. Name search permits first and last name, aliases, and race options.
  2. Complete the case-sensitive CAPTCHA, then compare identifiers before opening a result.
  3. Read status and location together. A supervision office is different from a prison location.
  4. Review offense, sentence, hearing, and any release information without treating one field as the whole record.
  5. If destination matters, compare the TDOC record with the White County movement record, court judgment, or a VINE event.

“Inactive” means state supervision ended; it does not by itself prove a community discharge date or explain why supervision closed.

The official FOIL overview lists its scope and warns that the information may not be complete or timely. The captured search page below shows the actual name, TDOC ID, and State ID routes available during research.

TDOC Release Records Contact

FOIL is a lookup, not the complete official file. When an older result lacks a clear date or status, use the TDOC archived-record request route or its linked public-record portal. Ask for an existing release, discharge, sentence, or TOMIS record. TOMIS is the state offender information system, and its identifier is also called a TDOC ID.

TDOC asks for requester contact information, the reason for the request, the full offender name, TOMIS number, date of birth, and a detailed description. Its instructions also mention a Social Security number if appropriately known. Ask how to transmit any sensitive identifier safely. Charges may apply, and TDOC says not to prepay because the office will give the amount. Technical FOIL help is available at 629-888-5870 or 888-890-8183 and apps.support@tn.gov; substantive case questions belong with TDOC constituent services or Records Management.

White County TDOC Release Notice

TDOC form CR-3626 shows why a state release record contains more than one date. Its fields include name, TDOC ID, conviction date and county, date of birth, offense, type of release, release date, sentence expiration, and intended residence at the city-and-state level. A release date records an event. Sentence expiration marks the end of the sentence term. Those dates may differ when parole or another supervised status follows prison.

The form also recognizes release by detainer to a Tennessee county facility. In that case, the person leaves one TDOC placement but goes to county custody. The form directs continued tracking through Tennessee SAVIN, the state notification network. This official wording is a strong reason to check the receiving agency before saying a person was freed. It also shows why a White County jail register and the TDOC record can both be accurate while describing opposite directions of a transfer.

Release
Departure from a stated facility or agency custody, which may be to the community or another authority.
Discharge
The formal end of a sentence or supervision obligation in the reporting system.
Sentence expiration
The end date of the imposed sentence, distinct from an earlier parole or eligibility date.
Detainer
A hold or request that can transfer a person directly to another authority.

Read TDOC Release Dates Carefully

Tennessee uses the term Release Eligibility Date, or RED. TDOC calculates it from the judgment and the laws that apply to the offense and date. RED is a threshold for release consideration or a specified release path. It is not a Board grant, an approved release plan, physical departure, or sentence expiration. The public FOIL overview says sentence and release information may appear, but it does not promise a field literally titled “Projected Release Date.”

Credits can affect dates in different ways. Tennessee law permits documented sentence credits for good institutional conduct and program performance, yet the impact depends on the sentence and offense date. For certain offenses committed on or after July 1, 2024 with sentences over two years, credits may affect parole eligibility instead of sentence expiration. Other offense classes and date ranges follow different rules. A universal percentage is therefore unreliable. The judgment, TDOC calculation, and current record control.

Dates may also change after discipline, restored credits, an amended judgment, consecutive sentences, jail credit, parole action, a detainer, or administrative processing. The separate White County inmate release date resource explains these distinctions in more depth. Actual departure should still be confirmed with the holding facility.

White County Supervision After Release

The Tennessee Board of Parole decides whether an eligible prisoner receives parole. TDOC supervises parolees and probationers after release. A Board grant does not mean the person leaves at once. TDOC states that the proposed release plan must be approved and that pre-release conditions may have to be complete before physical departure.

White County falls within Community Supervision District 31. The White/Cumberland office is at 29 Daniel Drive, Suite 103, Crossville, Tennessee 38555, with phone 931-484-1566. District headquarters is at 851 South Willow Avenue, Suite 202, Cookeville, Tennessee 38501, with phone 931-526-7165. A FOIL location and a confirming call should guide any visit because not every case reports to the same desk.

An “Absconded” label means failure to report to the assigned supervision officer. It should not automatically be restated as proof of a public warrant. No official White County-specific absconder list was found. Verify the current process through FOIL, the supervising office, the Board, or the responsible court.

White County Jail Versus TDOC

The White County Jail roster is framed by the county as a lookup for people housed there. It is not a state offender archive. When a White County entry disappears, the person may have entered the community, gone to TDOC, moved to another county, or transferred under federal or immigration authority. A county movement record identifies the receiving agency, while FOIL shows the state side when TDOC took custody.

A dated local example appears in White County’s May 2020 minutes. At that time, TDOC-bound prisoners remained in the county jail because state prisons were not accepting new intakes. That circumstance must not be treated as current policy. It does show why sentencing, county-roster status, state intake, and community release can occur at different times. The permanent county jail register, movement record, court judgment, and TDOC placement record create the sound sequence.

For a local pretrial or misdemeanor stay that never entered TDOC, request the jail-register entry and release order from White County. For a state felony record, use FOIL and TDOC Records Management. A federal sentence belongs in the BOP locator, and immigration custody belongs in ICE’s system. Each result establishes only the custody system it names.

Note: No physical TDOC prison was identified in White County; the state system serves White County cases from outside the county.
